FAB Show 2025: Charting the Future of Sustainable Fashion in India

FAB Show 2025: Charting the Future of Sustainable Fashion in India
Organized by the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI), FAB Show 2025 emerged as a landmark event for the Indian textile and apparel industry, spotlighting sustainability, innovation, and collaborative action. With thousands of trade visitors — including garment manufacturers, brand leaders, and e-commerce players — the event underscored India’s growing leadership in responsible fashion.

The Sustainability & Circularity Pavilion: A New Industry Standard

At the heart of the show was the Sustainability & Circularity Pavilion, supported by the Centre for Environment Education (CEE) and the Global Alliance for Textile Sustainability (GATS). This space brought together pioneering exhibitors showcasing eco-friendly materials, circular strategies, and impactful case studies.

A key feature was the SU.RE (Sustainable Resolution) stall — India’s largest voluntary industry commitment to sustainable fashion. Founded by CMAI, Reliance Brands Limited, the UN in India and the Ministry of Textiles, SU.RE continues to drive tangible change across the sector.

Adding visual impact to the Pavilion was a fashion showcase featuring garments made from reused, repaired, refurbished, and recycled materials — a clear nod to the growing embrace of circularity.

Knowledge That Moves the Needle

The Sustainable Knowledge Sessions brought thought leaders, policy advocates, and business innovators together to tackle the industry’s most urgent sustainability challenges. Curated in part by SU.RE, the sessions featured powerful conversations including:

  • “Transforming the Value Chain”, a fireside chat with leaders from ABFRL, Trent Ltd., and Tiruppur Exporters Association on sourcing and traceability.
  • “Road to Revenue for Textile Waste”, highlighting how decarbonization and circular models can unlock financial value. Moderated by Darshana Gajare (Reliance Brands), the panel included SU.RE’s Manohar Samuel and voices from Bestseller, Green Story, and GATS.
  • A UNIDO-led discussion on sustainable materials, certification, and packaging — emphasizing a holistic view of sustainability beyond garments.
  • A deep dive into non-toxic alternatives and biodegradable design, showcasing innovation in dyes, material research, and product safety.
  • A forward-thinking Power Talk on AI by Ragini Varma (FYND), exploring how technology can accelerate sustainability through predictive analytics and supply chain transparency.

A standout moment was India’s first-ever Bluetooth Silent Fashion Show, presented by Manidhari Silk Mills and directed by the Institute of Design and Technology (IDT). This immersive, mindful experience allowed attendees to tune in via headphones — blending technology with conscious fashion storytelling.

FAB Show 2025 reinforced that sustainability is not a side conversation, but the future of fashion. Through cross-sector collaboration, innovation, and industry-wide commitment, India is rapidly redefining what responsible textile production looks like — and SU.RE is proud to be helping lead that transition.
